Attracting the Maximum Number of Attendees
Client
European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE)
Event
Annual conference: 10th – 14th June, 2007
Requirements
As a large pan-European association, the EAGE sought a venue and host city that would be able to accommodate large scale presentations and exhibitions while also attracting as many delegates as possible.
Event Solution
EAGE chose London as a location because of its top class conferencing facilities, global networking opportunities and its huge variety of social and sightseeing opportunities.
The cooperation, flexibility and the willingness to think with us as an association that does things differently made our event more professional.
- Ricardo Vivas van Leeuwen, EAGEOur events team suggested ExCeL London as a venue because of its flexible space and its close proximity to accommodation and European transport links. With four large lecture spaces, a variety of smaller breakout rooms and a large exhibition space, ExCeL easily met the needs of the event.
In addition to the conference itself, our associations team helped arrange a reception at the Natural History Museum as well as a variety of social and sightseeing activities for delegates and their partners, ensuring that the conference experience offered more than simply business.
This combination of excellent networking opportunities and a diverse social programme ensured that attendance figures soared to 6,300 – 25% higher than at any previous EAGE conference.
Samantha Shamkh, ExCeL London’s account manager for the event said: “The attraction of London continues to help our clients exceed all expectations for their events.”
