Event

Annual Senior Management Meeting, January 2008

Requirements

This multinational express and mail company was looking for a phenomenal location for their annual meeting of senior managers – a place that could host business briefings and encourage ideas sharing while also surprising and inspiring the 250 delegates with a unique incentive programme.

Event Solution

On a logistical level, TNT was drawn to London because of its proximity to mainland Europe, its accessibility for delegates from further afield, and because of the London’s commitment to sustainability.

From a meeting success point of view, the organisers were hoping that London could offer a “work hard, play hard” experience, using the familiar and the unexpected to inspire delegates.

Visit London helped us with many great ideas. You have great insights for what you can do in London, and you combine it with creativity applicable to a corporate environment

- Peter van Minderhout, Group Director Communications, TNT

TNT approached Visit London with a variety of ideas for venues and activities, but were looking specifically for less well-known alternatives in London.

Thanks to Visit London’s inside knowledge of London’s high profile spaces and lesser known attractions, we were able to suggest a range of venues and activities that offered TNT the uniqueness they needed, while still providing the facilities that a professional conference requires.

Accommodation and conference sessions were arranged within the newly refurbished Intercontinental Park Lane hotel. Its central location enabled delegates to take advantage of a host of nearby attractions during their free time.

Showcasing the team’s ability to take the familiar icons of the city and present them in a surprising way, we arranged a welcome dinner for delegates in the Harrods Food Hall, allowing them to relax and discover this iconic venue when the doors had closed for the day.

The next morning delegates enjoyed a TNT tradition – a group bike ride. By working with our contacts within the city we secured permission for delegates to cycle through some of London’s most iconic points: sweeping through Hyde Park, past Speakers’ Corner and eventually meeting for breakfast within the park itself.

Tickets to see Cirque du Soleil at the historic Royal Albert Hall, a champagne flight on the London Eye and an express Thames Clipper boat trip on the Thames all enabled delegates to network or to simply relax and enjoy the city.

The conference ended with a final briefing deep inside Chelsea Football Club’s stadium; an inspirational event space that perfectly captured the ethos of competitiveness and performance under pressure that the company wanted to portray.
