Barclays' events team helped raise more than £20,000 by staging a fundraising dinner in aid of a young persons charity set up in memory of Stuart Feakins, a close friend of Barclays Head of Events Sarah Wright.
The Stuart Feakins Trust inaugural dinner, held at One Whitehall Place on 15 May attracted 216 guests, made up predominantly from the UK events industry.
Guests enjoyed a motivational speech from Paralympic champion Marc Woods and bid for 70 lots in the charity auction.
Many of the auction items were donated by hotel brands including Marriott, Hilton and De Vere as well as event agencies including Zibrant, Cavendish Hospitality and Grass Roots.
UK events industry suppliers including Stagestruck, Crayon, Lodestar, JVP Furniture, Ministry of Fun, Brilliant Media, BDA, World Events and the Barbican also supported the initiative.
Barclays' Sarah Wright said: "We set up the Stuart Feakins Trust just over a year ago and both the professional and personal support I've received has been overwhelming. The Barclays events team did a fantastic job on the night and it was a huge success."
Monies raised by the auction and dinner ticket sales will be used to support young people in Hackney through a social experiences and activity programme.
"The events industry is full of people's people who specialise in creating experiences so I believe this charity's aims and ambitions really resonate with the sector. I have been so impressed and touched by the involvement and support and I'd like to thank everyone for their input."
