The English Tea Room at Rocco Forte's Brown's Hotel in Mayfair has been awarded The Tea Guild's Top London Afternoon Tea 2009.

The accolade is widely considered the 'Michelin Star' of the tea world with inspectors travelling the country to seek out the winners anonymously.

The Rocco Forte Collection hotel's English Tea Room has two dedicated tea sommeliers to give advice on the 17 teas on offer. The room compliments the property's six private event rooms and can be used for break-out sessions.

Stuart Johnson, General Manager at Brown's Hotel said "We are absolutely delighted and honoured to receive this prestigious award. It means so much to all the staff, who have put their hearts and souls into creating the best possible experience for our customers. We are a close team with a passion and commitment to creating and maintaining a gold standard, overseen by both Leyla Mussaud, Manager of The English Tea Room and Fabien Ecuvillon, Head Pastry Chef."

Commenting on the reasons for Brown’s winning the award, Irene Gorman, Head of The Tea Guild, said: "The English Tea Room manages to combine a luxurious and elegant ambience with extremely friendly and efficient service. The food and teas were absolutely exquisite, both in presentation and taste. The staff are well trained, really know their teas and are very happy to advise customers on their choice; and you can even take home a sample of the blend you have enjoyed. It is important touches like these that mark Brown's out as a tea aficionado’s paradise."

From the 22 June to 30 August 2009, The English Tea Room will be serving their award-winning Summer Afternoon Tea. This will consist of the Traditional Afternoon Tea plus a bowl of strawberries and cream and a glass of chilled Rose Taittinger Champagne at £48.00 per person.
