Business Design Centre creates beachfront fun on its doorstep
The Business Design Centre (BDC) has created a beach on its Islington doorstep.
The area is open from Monday to Friday from 11am to 7pm throughout the summer. It is designed to create a relaxing space for staff, BDC tenants and the local community.
The beach is covered with sand, furnished with palm trees and deck chairs and has ambient background music playing during the day. BDC catering partner The Good Eat Company is serving a beach barbecue menu including tiger prawns, lamb kebabs, burgers and barbecue chocolate bananas.
BDC Chief Executive Dominic Jones said: "We first thought of this idea a couple of years ago and decided that this year would be the perfect time to go for it. In the current economic climate we thought that it would be a great idea to bring a bit of light-hearted fun to the local businesses and the wider community. I'm delighted to say that the response from both our own tenants and passers by has been absolutely fantastic."
The beach area is manned by a member of the BDC security team at all times, dressed in Bermuda shorts and Tshirt.
