Hilton targets Wembley and T5 for two key openings in 2010

Hilton Hotels Corporation will open two more London properties in 2010. The openings form part of a ten-year strategy to double Hilton's UK and Ireland portfolio to 150 hotels.

A 400-room hotel is currently under construction at Wembley. It will be operated by Maple Hotels Management Company, a subsidiary of Hilton.

Conference and event facilities will include ten meeting rooms with a capacity of around 340 people and three conference rooms, which will also provide a single 706m² events space.

A 350-room Hilton is planned for London Heathrow airport's Terminal 5. It will complement the existing 395-room Hilton property located at Terminal 4 and provide nine meeting rooms and 650m² of conferencing space.

Hilton Heathrow T5 will be located in Poyle and will operate under a 20-year franchise agreement with Shiva Hotels. It will be the fourth hotel, part of an agreement signed by Hilton and Shiva Hotels in 2007, to open 15 new properties in the UK.

Hilton Regional Vice President of Operations John Philip said: "London has established itself as one of the world's top destinations and we're delighted with the confirmation of this T5 site. The Heathrow deal takes total capital committed to the development of the Hilton brand in London to more than $500m in the past two years, putting us well on track to double the UK and Ireland estate to 150 hotels in the next ten years."
