Gordon Ramsay has joined the line-up of chefs who will be cooking dinner for guests on the London Eye during next month's London Restaurant Festival.
One capsule on the visitor attraction will be turned into a unique revolving dining room for each evening of the week-long festival, with a different chef in charge each night.
The announcement came as top chefs joined festival creators Fay Maschler and Simon Davis to attend a photo call in Covent Garden to mark the one-month countdown until the opening of London Restaurant Festival. Taking place from 8-13 October, the series of gourmet events aims to become the Edinburgh Festival of food and to boost restaurant sales by 20%.
From 01 October until the end of the festival, Covent Garden's Piazza will act as the official festival, providing information on the festival, tickets, the programme of exclusive events taking place in London and Covent Garden, as well general information on the best foodie venues in Covent Garden, the West End and the wider London area.
During the London Restaurant Festival, the Covent Garden Real Food Market, which runs every Thursday, will exclusively extend over the weekend and will feature four 'guest stalls' which will be hosted by a selection of top London restaurants.
Alongside the programme of live activities taking place in Covent Garden, over a dozen of Covent Garden's best restaurants will be serving £10 festival menus.
Ros Barclay, Head of Marketing at Covent Garden London said: "We are delighted to partner with the London Restaurant Festival and to play such a pivotal role as festival hub. With the wealth of restaurants and culinary talent in Covent Garden and the wider London area, we are looking forward to celebrating a whole host of gourmet offerings during the week of the festival."
