More than $US 20,000 has been raised as a result of the European Meetings and Events Conference and Rendezvous Europe party.

The Meetings Professionals International (MPI) conference took place at ExCeL London from 18 to 20 April. The Rendezvous Europe party was held at indigO2 on the second night and featured a headline performance from Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra.

Marc Almond and Louise Marshall featured as guest vocalists to perform with Jools Holland. DJs Norman Jay and BBC Radio One’s Trevor Nelson entertained the crowds before and after the headline act.

Paid donations during MPI’s visit to London combined with ticket sales from the party will benefit the MPI Foundation Europe. The scheme funds programmes and research that positively impacts the European meetings industry.

The three-day European conference organised by Visit London and ExCeL London in association with MPI attracted over 600 delegates representing 34 countries. The event content comprised skills development and targeted training as well as seminars aimed at specific sectors from pharmaceutical to financial. On the final evening, delegates visited the Old Royal Naval College for dinner.

David Hornby, Commercial Director, Visit London said: “What a fantastic weekend for London to showcase its potential to this extremely important audience. From the use of Oyster for transport all around the city to venues like The O2 and the Painted Hall (the Old Royal Naval College), this has been an overwhelming success.”
