Three artists who hold a special place with Nelson Mandela will join recent addition Amy Winehouse at Nelson Mandela's birthday concert.

Classical singer Josh Groban, folk singer Joan Baez and Jerry Drummers whose song Free Nelson Mandela was a symbol for the anti-apartheid movement in the UK, have been added to the bill.

Announcing the new acts, concert organisers said: "These three artists hold a special place with Nelson Mandela."

They join a line-up that includes:

  • Queen
  • Annie Lennox
  • Leona Lewis
  • Sugababes
  • and Dame Shirley Bassey

The Nelson Mandela 90th birthday concert will take place in Hyde Park on 27 June.

Promoter Live Nation, the Royal Parks and private sector sponsors Mercedes-Benz; Zain and Investec, British Airways, Samsung, InterContinental Hotels and The Westbury are all supporting the concert.

It will be 20 years since London first came together to call for Mandela's release with a 70th birthday concert on 11 June 1988.

The three-and-half-hour 46664 Concert Honouring Nelson Mandela at 90 begins at 6.30pm on Friday 27 June.
