Tower Bridge forms ramp for Red Bull X-Fighter leap

Robbie Maddison jumps over Tower Bridge

Red Bull's X-Fighter motorcycle stuntman Robbie Maddison made a death-defying jump across the raised bascule arms of Tower Bridge in the early hours of 13 July. The feat was made possible by nine months of preparations by Visit London's Events for London and Event Solutions teams.

Maddison, who holds the Guinness World Record for the longest motorcycle jump, made a spectacular back-flip across the 262-metre bridge gap, under the cover of darkness.

The jump launched the Red Bull X-Fighters event, which will take place at London's Battersea Power Station on 22 August and attract more than 17,000 visitors to the capital from across the UK.

Zanine Adams, UK Sales & Event Solutions Manager, worked closely with Red Bull to enable the top secret stunt to take place. She said: "London's vision is to be the world's most exciting major events destination. We have supported Red Bull in making this athletic feat possible so it further highlights the city's fantastic offer. We're delighted that Robbie was able to jump the bridge and we hope his achievement will show the role that both Event Solutions and the Events for London teams play to open up the city and attract unique events to the capital."

Katie Holt, Red Bull Event Manager said: "We are delighted to have used London and the iconic Tower Bridge for Robbie's amazing jump. London is an ideal backdrop to stage a spectacular feat like this and we look forward to bringing the Red Bull X-Fighters event to London at the end of August."
