Sodexo Prestige to defend the Square Meal Canapé Cup

Sodexo Prestige is preparing to defend its 2008 Canapé Cup at this month's Square Meal Venues & Events exhibition.

The catering competition takes place on 23 September in the Complimentary Café area at Old Billingsgate. Ten caterers will battle it out to convince more than 300 tasters that they have the winning canapé.

Malcolm Emery, Sodexo Prestige Chief Executive said: "Our winning canapé last year was 'A Flavour of the Social Season' and was a buttermilk and rosemary sweet corn fritter with peppered confit of rabbit, an apple glaze and watercress purée. We had great fun creating this year's canapé for the 2009 Square Meal Canapé Cup and we hope that the judges enjoy eating it as much as we have enjoyed designing and making it."

Other highlights from Venues & Events 2009, which runs from 23-24 September include a range of 'Bitesize' free seminars and Fizz for Events Tasting sessions. Visitors will be shown various champagne alternatives as well as a selection of champagnes at different price levels during five show sessions.
