Eton Collection flagship plans luxury health & fitness centre
Threadneedles hotel is planning to transform its disused cellar into a luxury health spa.
The five-star boutique hotel located opposite the Bank of England and London Stock Exchange hopes work will get underway in 2009.
General Manager Julian Payne’s vision is to compliment the hotel’s blend of historic and contemporary interiors by adding a small gym, changing rooms, spa and treatment rooms. The development is planned for completion prior to the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
Threadneedles is the flagship hotel of the Eton Collection. It is housed in a former 19th-century Victorian banking hall. Its most distinctive feature is its elaborate hand-painted dome, which dates back to 1856 and hangs above the lobby.
The property is connected to French eatery Bonds restaurant and bar. Formal private dining is available for up to 80 guests or canapé receptions can be held for 200 guests. There is no hire charge for Bonds but a minimum spend requirement is in place for all events.
