Visit London Awards shortlist announced
The shortlisted entries for the 2008 Visit London Awards have been announced.
The annual Visit London Awards celebrate the capital's visitor offering.
Shortlisted entries for the Business Event of the Year Award are:
- London Symphony Orchestra for USB Gala
- City of London Corporation for Take a Closer Look at the City of London
- Science Museum for Siemens' Think Customer Awards
- Logistik for Share Fair Conference 2008
- London Borough of Havering for Havering Business Awards
- Maritz for Toyota ERM IV
The shortlist for Business Venue of the Year category comprises:
- Barbican
- Hilton London Metropole
- The Brit Oval
- Vinopolis
- Science Museum
- The Grove
- ExCeL London
- Emirates Stadium
Other shortlisted categories are: Best Tourism Experience, Visitor Attraction of the Year, Sports Tourism Award, Budget Accommodation of the Year, Small Hotel/B&B of the Year, Best Visitor Information Initiative, Large Hotel of the Year, Sustainable Tourism Award, Accessible Tourism Award, Marketing/PR Campaign of the Year, Best Celebration of Cultural Diversity and Outstanding Customer Service.
The Awards comprise 14 judged entries and five People's Choice Awards, which will be voted for by Londoners in October and November.
The ceremony will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on 27 November and up to three awards will be given in each category. Visit London Chief Executive James Bidwell said: "We have received a record number of entries of the highest calibre and the short-listing process was tough."
