London is one of Europe's best connected cities, with a range of public transport options offering quick connections between all city venues, hotels and attractions.
Public Transport in London
The London Underground or 'the Tube', together with London’s fleet of 6,500 buses is the most convenient and usually the quickest way to get around the city.
The Overground rail network covers many London's boroughs and complements the Tube network, while the Docklands Light Rail (DLR) connects to the key business district in the Canary Wharf area.
You can get the reduced fares for London public transport by using an Oyster card or printed Travelcard. These can be used on tubes, buses, some overground trains and the DLR, enabling visitors to make any number of journeys within set travel zones.
Oyster card users also get discounted fares on London riverboats, which offer a scenic alternative for journeys between central London and Canary Wharf.

London's fleet of 20,000 licensed taxi cabs can be hailed on the street and offer a quick door-to-door service. Private taxis cabs and buses can also be hired for larger groups.
